Preparing to Navigate Emerging Technologies
Several members of the Breitung Township Schools administrative team recently participated in the AI & Media Literacy Leadership Collaborative, a professional learning experience hosted by the Regional Educational Media Center Association of Michigan and Advanced Learning Partnerships.
The collaborative focused on helping school leaders understand both the opportunities and the challenges that emerging technologies like artificial intelligence present in education. Participants explored topics including media literacy, evaluating information for accuracy and bias, protecting authentic student learning, and developing thoughtful approaches to the ethical use of AI in schools.
As technology continues to evolve, it's important that educators understand these tools, not simply to use them, but to help students think critically, evaluate information carefully, and make responsible decisions. The training also emphasized ensuring that AI supports learning rather than replaces it, while maintaining strong expectations for student understanding, academic integrity, and ethical use.
Our goal is to ensure that Breitung Township Schools remains thoughtful, informed, and student-centered as we navigate new technologies together.
Thank you to REMC and Advanced Learning Partnerships for providing this valuable opportunity to learn alongside educational leaders from across Michigan.
