Achievement Hall of Fame

The newly established Breitung Township Schools Achievement Hall of Fame is now seeking nominations of district graduates and other significant individuals who have demonstrated remarkable achievements and a high level of character throughout their career since graduating from Kingsford High School, or through their support and involvement with the school district.

“The district has been considering establishing a group such as this for a number of years, and this year was able to bring it to fulfillment with the support of the Breitung Township Schools Board of Education,” stated Jamie Lockhart, Student Services Coordinator.

The committee plans to induct four individuals per year, with nominations to include teachers, coaches, athletes, business people, distinguished military, and other professionals who have been graduated from Breitung Township Schools for at least 10 years, or those individuals that have been involved, devoted to, and supportive of the school district.

Nominated individuals may represent any of the following categories:

  • CONTRIBUTOR: An individual who has made significant and outstanding contributions to the school district and/or athletic, academic, and music programs at Breitung Township Schools.
  • DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI:  An individual who has experienced significant success in his/her field at the post-secondary level in anything outside of athletics.  Examples include, but are not limited to the following:  An individual’s career, community or volunteer service through Breitung Township School District, or their community of residence, distinguished military service, and academic awards or achievements at the post-secondary level.
  • ATHLETE:  Any person who distinguished themselves in the field of athletics.  The athlete will not become eligible for nomination until 10 years after their class graduates.
  • COACH/TEACHER/ADMINISTRATOR: Any coach, teacher, or administrator who distinguished themselves by making significant contributions at the Breitung Township School District.  The nominee must be inactive to be eligible for consideration.

Nominations are now open for the 2025 year. All nominations must be submitted by May 1st, 2025.

The committee is seeking financial donations from alumni, community members, and businesses to help with the startup cost for the Hall of Fame.  Revenue will be needed to support the expenses associated with the induction process which includes plaques, ceremony costs, and prep-work costs. The committee intends to recognize the sponsors through a visual representation.

Superintendent of Breitung Township Schools, David Holmes, had this to say about BTS’s newest endeavor: "I am delighted to see this idea come to fruition in Kingsford. Over the ninety-nine-year tradition of Breitung Township Schools, there have been so many talented alumni, dedicated staff members, and outstanding community members associated with the school, that it feels only natural to honor them in a very special way. With the work of Mrs. Jamie Lockhart, our Student Services/Scholarship Coordinator, along with the Hall of Fame representative committee, the induction ceremony promises to be an excellent annual event.”
