6th Grade Science in Action!

Mr. Carey’s sixth-grade science students recently had an incredible hands-on learning experience releasing Chinook salmon into the Dead River in Marquette!
Throughout this project, students took on the responsibility of caring for the salmon from the egg stage all the way to the sac fry stage. Along the way, they explored the salmon life cycle, learned about the importance of Michigan’s fisheries, and studied water quality standards.
To deepen their understanding, the class also visited the Marquette Fish Hatchery, where they discovered how Michigan’s lakes and streams are stocked and how the DNR works to support healthy fisheries across the state.
Great work by our students and Mr. Carey for bringing science to life in such a meaningful way!
