Young Writes Competition Recognition

Posted Date: 12/04/25 (05:45 PM)

Over 140 7th grader students in Mrs. Spreen and Ms. Touchett's Language Arts class contributed original 100-word stories to a national competition, Stranger Sagas, made possible by Young Writers USA.

Students voted on top class stories and awarded first and second place winners as a 7th grade class by having staff vote for their favorite stories. 100 students from our class were selected for publication by Young Writers, Stranger Sagas - Flickers in the Dark, a national publication of student writers.

We are proud of our 7th graders for their creativity and success, and encourage our students to continue to challenge themselves and explore new ways to express their writing ability and creativity!

Congratulations to class winners, voted on by their peers: Ryker, Sloan, Jazmin, Madeline, Caden, Ella, Bria, Walter, Aubree, Jace, Sydney, Mason, Noah, Kaylee, Peyton, and Alizabeth! We would also like to acknowledge our first-place KMS writing award recipient awarded by KMS staff, Aubree, and our second-place KMS writing award recipients, Walter and Kaylee.

Three students stand together, each holding a 'Stranger Sagas' award certificate.
