Breitung Township Schools Internet Safety and Children's Internet Protection Act
In the United States, the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) requires schools and libraries to implement filters to block inappropriate Internet content. At Breitung Township Schools we use Surf Control Web Filter to block access to inappropriate material on the Internet.
SurfControl recommends that schools configure Web Filter to block all access to the following URL categories:
Adult/Sexually Explicit
Alcohol & Tobacco
Blogs
Chat
Criminal Activity
Dating & Personals
Downloads *
Gambling
Hacking
Illegal Drugs
Intimate Apparel & Swimware
Intolerance & Hate
Peer-to-Peer
Phishing & Fraud
Photo Searches
Proxies & Translators
Spyware
Tasteless & Offensive
Violence
Weapons
Web-based E-mail
Blocking the Proxies & Translators category is particularly important to ensure that students do not circumvent Web Filter.
