🎉 80s Decade Day at Woodland: A Blast from the Past! 🎉

Woodland Elementary recently celebrated their success in the TV6 Can-a-Thon with a fun-filled Decades Day! This year, they took a nostalgic trip back to the 80s, with both staff and students dressing up in iconic 80s fashion and bringing in memorabilia to honor the decade.

They are incredibly proud of their school's effort in the Can-a-Thon and want to give a special shout-out to Mrs. Elizabeth Early for her outstanding organization and dedication to this cause.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this day totally awesome!

 

The Kingsford High School Wrestling Team is the 2025 UP Team Champions!

From Coach Darren Groleau:

"2025 UP Team Champions! What can I say about this team!? We faced a lot of adversity coming into UP’s. Missing some guys and gal due to injury and illness. This team wouldn’t be denied. We preach family in our room and they wrestled for their brothers and sister today. We sent 9 kids to UP’s we ended up with 7 in the finals! 4 out of the 7 took first.

-Nolan Hendrickson 2nd at 138

-Jake Lockhart 2nd at 190

-Orrin Smith 1st at 157

-Max Sundquist 1st at 175

These kids wanted it so bad! They didn’t let the numbers stop them from achieving their goal today! Thank you to the parents, my coaching staff and everyone else to help make Kingsford Flivver Wrestling history with our first ever UP Wrestling Championship!"

NOTICE OF SCHOOL BOARD VACANCY

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to the qualified electors of the BREITUNG TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT that due to a resignation, there is a limited-term vacancy on the School Board until the next regular school election (2026).

An elector desiring to be a candidate for this position must file an application containing:

1. Biographical data
2. Statement of qualifications
3. Statement of interest/special interest

to the BREITUNG TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT, 810 PYLE DRIVE, KINGSFORD, MI 49802, PRIOR TO 3:00 P.M.ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 24, 2025, to the attention of Mr. David Holmes, Superintendent.

Any qualified elector of this District who has filed an application before the deadline shall be required to submit to a criminal background check. The Board of Education may choose to interview candidates to ascertain their qualifications and will fill this position by the majority vote of the existing board on or prior to February 5, 2025, so that the individual is seated to serve beginning with the next regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting to be held on Monday, February 10, 2025.
