Laptops and tablets must be handled with care at all times. Follow these tips to keep your laptop in great shape for years to come.
-
Never carry the laptop by the lid. Always support it from beneath the chassis. Closing the lid is preferable when moving.
-
Make sure nothing is on the keyboard when closing the lid. This includes cords, cables, pencils, pens, etc. If something is on the keyboard when closing the lid, it will break the screen.
-
No food or drink around your laptop. Liquids are enemy #1 to laptops!
-
If you happen to spill liquid on your device, immediately shut it down and wipe up visible water with a paper towel. Do not attempt to power up the device for at least 12 hours after this to allow any remaining liquid to evaporate.
-
-
Use a microfiber cloth to clean the screen. You can spray a small amount of glass cleaner onto the cloth (not the screen) and use that for a deeper clean. Press gently while cleaning the screen.
-
Disinfectant wipes can be used on the keyboard. Be sure to wring out excess liquid before wiping off the keys. Wipe them gently so as not to pull off any keys.
-
On battery power, turn down screen brightness to a tolerable level to extend battery life.
-
Never set anything on the closed lid of your laptop. This could put excess pressure on the screen and break it.
-
Close the screen when not using your device
-
Do not leave the device in chairs or on the floor where they can be sat or stepped on.
