the developmental needs of all students. Its purpose is to
contribute to the overall success of student learning.
Our program adheres to
both the National Standards for School Counseling Programs,
and the Michigan Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program.
The Standards are based on providing success through activities
designed to ensure students’ academic, career, and personal/social
development.
We recognize and abide by the American School Counselor Association
Ethical Standards for School Counselors (1998) and the
American Counseling Association Code of Ethics and Standards of
Practice (1997), including right to privacy and confidentiality.
Young people face greater risks than previous generations. Young
adolescents are affected by our ever- changing world and are faced
with more decisions than previous generations. Because of this,
there are times when they are not able to achieve at their full
academic potential. The counselor's primary task is to help them
become better learners by providing a comprehensive program that
includes responsive services, individual planning, systems support
and a guidance curriculum.
The Professional School Counselor is a certified teacher with
a master's degree in school counseling. Ms. Farragh holds a B.S. in
Education from Northern Michigan University, an M.S.W. from the
University of Georgia, and an M.A.E. in School Counseling from
Northern Michigan University. She has 28 years of experience working
with children and their families as a teacher, school counselor, and
clinical therapist.
