Study Skills

The students will learn the following skills:

• Individual learning styles, listening skills, note taking, memory, time management, and test taking.
• Respect and responsibility by participating in an R & R point system.
• Improve vocabulary skills.
• Organizational skills by utilizing a notebook and folder.

A variety of teaching strategies will be used to meet the needs of all students.   Lecturing, handouts, overhead transparencies, and other forms of technology will be used.

Coursework will be done in class.  The majority of coursework will be accomplished through in-class assignments, note taking, reading materials, and vocabulary quizzes.  Tests will be given to assess learning of materials taught.

Grading:

Students will receive points for the following daily activities:

1. Vocabulary quizzes:  40 points per quiz every other week.
2. R & R points:  2 points per day.
3. Notebook checks:  5 points per day.
4. Agenda checks:  10 points per week.
5. Note cards:  10 points per week.
6. Other assignments or projects
7. R & R points:  Students will earn daily Responsibilities and Respect points. 

Required materials include a notebook, folder, a highlighter and index cards.
