Eighth Grade Science is a course that emphasizes learning that is useful and relevant. The goal is to promote science literacy for all students where students will acquire the ability to construct, reflect, and use scientific knowledge. Students will investigate various topics such as astronomy, changes in matter, geosphere, and the hydrosphere. Some of the teaching methods and strategies used in the classroom will include lecture, note taking, labs, projects, technology, current events and real life experiences to enrich the scientific concepts discussed in class. Students will be assessed in the following areas: homework, quizzes, tests, and notes.
Required Materials: Textbook (Prentice Hall Science Explorer Series), science notebook.
