Primetime 7

Primetime is set up as an advisory class.  This is the time and place to exchange information, improve organizational skills, develop better social skills, and learn more about a variety of topics.

Overview: We present a number of lessons on character development including the mini lessons in their agenda books.  Current events are discussed and organizational skills are practiced.  Community service is stressed.  We have a rake day, make cards for shut-ins, and collect food for those in need.

Responsibilities: Students are responsible for keeping their agendas up to date with class assignments.  They also practice keeping their lockers organized.  When notes go home or papers need a parent signature, students are responsible to return these on time.

Socials: Whole class socials are planned (Flivver day, rake day etc.) so the students can visit with friends, as the class now has a divided lunch.

Rotation: About twenty-five weeks will be spent in rotation with the other five 7th grade teachers.  They will each present on a different topic.  These rotations will happen twice a week, Tuesday and Thursday.  Each teacher will meet with a class about eleven times.    Topics taught will be: Environmental Education, Map skills, Literature, Scientific Problem Solving, Logic Problems, and Geometry through Origami.

Grades: Grades are figured on a point system.  Points are given for returning forms, keeping agenda current, organizing lockers, short assignments, participation, and each rotation teacher gives a points based on the students work.
