This is an activity-based class that focuses on staying active, working as a team, and learning individual skills that will be used in team games. Students will learn about the benefits of exercise and will be able to take their own heart rates, so they will know if they are working hard enough to benefit from the activity. Each student must bring PE clothes, stay active, and show a good attitude in order to do well. They will be graded on participation, dress, skill work, and tests on the rules. Five no dress days will result in a failing grade.
Activities include basketball, badminton, deck tennis, flag football, fitness stations, softball, soccer, speedball, table tennis, jump rope, and volleyball, team building games, archery, and the Presidential Fitness Test.
Students will be expected to be in the locker room when class starts. They have 5 minutes to change and report to the gym. They will have to complete their laps and show improvement in their exercises. Being an activity class they will be expected to constantly be involved in the activity. After class showers are encouraged but are optional. Students have 10 minutes to change and report to the commons. Students will be expected to stop and listen when the whistle blows and wait for instruction.
