Life P.E. 7

Life Physical Education promotes a more positive attitude toward physical activity.  It is designed to generate a general understanding towards the importance of lifelong physical fitness.  Along with physical fitness, the activities are designed to enhance a student’s self-confidence and participation in an active life-style.

An example of activities that well be explored in this class are weight lifting, aerobics, snow shooing, biking, table tennis bean bag toss, walking, and a few team building games.

All activities are taught through explanation, demonstration, skill development and participation.  At then end of a unit a written or skill test may be given for evaluation.

Students will be required to change their clothing daily into shorts and a “T” shirt so that   personal hygiene is reinforced with staying clean.

If there is work to do outside of the class it is the students’ responsibility to finish it at home and turn it in the following day.  Should a student be ill and not in school the day an assignment or test is due, they are given one day for each day missed to make up their assignment.

Students are graded on their participation, written work and skill tests.  Each week participation points are earned.  If a child does not dress out for class he/she will earn a zero for that day and will have to walk around the gym for the hour so that they get some exercise.  When a student receives five zeroes for not dress out for class he/she will fail the class.

By the end of this class the child should be able to distinguish between lifetime activities, aerobic activities, team sports and individual sports.  They should also understand the importance of staying active for living a healthy life.
