Keyboarding 6

The students will learn the following skills:

Basic keying skills:

  1. Fluent manipulation of letter, figure/symbol, and basic service keys by “touch”.
  2. Part one is devoted to alphanumeric keying skills.
  3. Part two consists of Skill Builders placed between each pair of units.
  4. Presents two alphabet or figure keys in each new-key lesson to ensure mastery of keyboard operation.
  5. Delays keying skill on the top row until correct technique and an essential level of keying skill have been developed.
  6. Uses scientific, computer-controlled drills to develop maximum skill in minimum time.
  7. Employs paragraphs that are triple-controlled for copy difficulty.  Easy copy gives way to copy of low-average difficulty; then, average difficulty.
  8. Stresses keying technique first (without timing); then, speed of manipulation (with strategic timed writings); and accuracy of keyed copy last (using restricted-speed practice).
