This class promotes good health as a method of preventing illness while improving appearance, school and sports performance, social interaction and self-esteem. Overall, the class is designed to improve health and promote health literacy.
Topics of study include personal responsibility and decision-making, growth and development, mental, social and emotional health, the dangers of tobacco, alcohol and drugs, communicable and non-communicable diseases, prevention of violence and abuse, and systems of the body. Students will also participate in the DARE program.
Grading will be on total points for all assignments, tests, quizzes and projects. Students will be expected to be in their seats when class starts. They also need to have pencil, paper, and Health book. Students will be expected to show respect to classmates and teacher by listening to others while their speaking, and participate in health discussions.
