LESSON PLANS for the Week of September 8 – September 12

MONDAY

1. Seating chart.

2. Read aloud from JPSTK.

3. Check for covered spelling book.

4. Spelling pre-test lesson 1.

5. Correct the pre-test together.

6. Pass out spelling list 1.  Read through challenge words.

7. Begin I AmÉ open-ended sentences.

8. Continue with KMS expectations.

9. Magazine sale kick-off presentation in the gym.  We will sit together as a class.

 

** Spelling test on Friday.

**Agenda check on Tuesday.

**Bring something to read from daily (book or magazine)

 

1. Magazine sale kick-off presentation in the gym will finish up.

2. Students will complete the final copy of their poem with a drawing, picture, or photo and piece of colored paper.

3. Begin discussion on the MEAP practice test.  If we have time, we will go over the MEAP practice tips and begin section one of the test (1-21).

1. Check student agenda books.

2. Assist students with assignments and projects from other classes.

3. Read aloud tests from other classes.  Students may be completing a test with me that they began or attempted in another class.

4. During the last ten minutes of class – The students will fill in their resource notebooks.  They will write down what they worked on in this class and one thing that they learned during the day.

5. Point sheets will be recorded at this time. (Total possible points each day = 6)

 

1. Pass back corrected quiz.

2. Place-value chart activity.  Students will use charts and worksheet.  We will go through about 8 problems from index cards.  Students will write answers in standard form and in word form.

2. Read pages 4-5 together and discuss.

1. STAR Test will be taken in the library.  We will walk over to the library together.

2. Finish either self-portrait or word process final copy of poem.

3. Pass out books and record names in them.  Cover books if time.

 

1. Complete lesson 4 on digits.

2. Correct lesson 4.

3. Lesson 5 place value pp. 13-14 (1-25).

4. Correct lesson 5.

TUESDAY

1. ARÉ10 minutes, silently at desks.

2. Agenda check.

3. Read aloud from JPSTK.

4. Finish I AmÉ open-ended sentences.  I will collect these.

5. Spelling assignment pp. 6-7.  HW if not completed.

6. If timeÉbegin working on agenda book crossword puzzle with a partner.

 

1. Finish MEAP practice test part one and go over the test with the students.

1. Review place-value and chart.  Talk about periods and what each period has that is the same. 

2. Begin check on page 5 (1-6).

 

1. Read aloud lesson 1 together pp. 1-3 Geese / Old Henry.

2. Complete WB pages 1-2 (1-16).

3. Read through correct answers to WB pp. 1-2.

4. Reasoning and writing – blue books.

1. Lesson 6 ordinal numbers and months of the year pp. 17-18 (1-25).

2. Make a chart of the months and days of each month.

3. Correct lesson 6.

 

WEDNESDAY

1. ARÉ10 minutes, silently at desks.

2. Read aloud from JPSTK.

3. Collect HW assignment pp. 6-7.

4. Spelling assignment pp. 8-9.  HW if not completed.

5. Continue working on agenda book crossword puzzle on your own.  HW if not completed.

1. Library orientation in the library for sixth grade ELA classes.  We will walk over to the library together.  Mrs. Driscoll will speak to us.

1. We will continue working on page 5 together (1-6).

1. We will walk over to the library together for library orientation.  Mrs. Driscoll will be talking to us.  Students will have the opportunity to check out a book.

2.  If time, we will read aloud together lesson 2 More Facts About Geese / Henry Meets Tim pp. 4-6.

 

1.Lesson 7 review of subtraction – fact families p. 20 (1-25).

THURSDAY

1. ARÉ10 minutes, silently at desks.

2. Read aloud from JPSTK.

3. Collect HW assignments pp. 8-9 and agenda book crossword puzzle.

4. review KMS expectations.

5. ABC order (1-20) to lesson 1. HW if not completed.

6. Spelling extra and practice master.  Hw if not completed.

7. Remind students of spelling test 1 tomorrow.

1. Students will take part 2 of the MEAP practice test (23-30).

1. Same as above.

 

1. Page 6 (7-20) Practice – skills and understanding.  We will work on this together.

 

1. Begin reading aloud from JasonŐs Gold.

2. Reread Lesson 2 pp. 4-6.

3. Students will complete the Comprehension Questions (1-11) on p. 6.

4. Complete WB pages 3-4 (1-20).

5. Go over answers to WB assignment together.

6. Reasoning and Writing blue books.

 

1. Lesson 8 writing numbers through 999 pp. 23-24 (1- 25).

2. Make a chart of numbers and words on page 21.  Place into your math folder.

3. Correct lesson 8.

FRIDAY

1. ARÉ10 minutes, silently at desks.

2. Read aloud from JPSTK.

3. Collect HW ABC order (1-20). And spelling extra and practice master.

4. Study with a partner.

5. Spelling popcorn review game.

6. Spelling test 1.

7. Teach sign language – thank you.

 

1. The students will take the STAR Test in the library.  We will walk over to the library together.  The STAR test will assist students with points for AR.

2. Back in the classroom, we will go over part 2 of the MEAP test with the students.

1. Students will take a quiz on place-value.

2. Place-value Practice sheet 1-1 or Re-teaching sheet R 1-1.

 

1. Students will record objectives into their agenda books.

2. Read aloud from JasonŐs Gold.

3. Pass out one ACTION magazine to each student.  We will read the play together on pp. 8-13.

4. Read aloud other articles from the magazine.

 

1. Lesson 9 adding money p. 26 (1-25).

2. Correct lesson 9.
