COURSE DESCRIPTION

Students will learn advanced uses of the acclaimed Microsoft Office program that includes Word (word processor), Excel (spreadsheet), Access (database) and PowerPoint (Presentation software).  The focus in this class will be on creating professional documents and presentations and will also include advanced topics in Pentop Computers, Web Page Design, Internet, E-mail, Handheld Computers, Digital Cameras, Scanners, Laptop computers, computer careers, integration, keyboarding practice and much, much more.  In addition, students will use the class to do projects for other subjects.

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

1.      To teach students advanced topics in the Office Suite including:

·         Word - word processing application

·         Excel - spreadsheet application

·         Access - database application

·         PowerPoint - presentation application

·         Publisher - page layout application  (If time allows)

2.      To give students the tools to be more productive in their remaining years of high school.

3.      To teach students advanced topics in computers that makes them more marketable in the workplace.

 

GRADING:

Grading Scale:  The class will be run on the school (straight) grading scale (see handbook).

            Projects:                                                                      60 - 120

            Drops (Exercises & Activities):                                 60 (20 Per Chapter)

            Chapter Checklist:                                                      30 (10 Per Chapter)

            Checks (Exercises & Activities):                                0 – 30 (As Needed)

            Journals:                                                                     50

            Computer Responsibilty Points (CRPs):                   100  (Responsible Use of Computer, Classtime & Internet, Online Participation, etc)
