Introduction to Microcomputers course that KHS offers is required for
all incoming freshman and is required for graduation. The course is
designed to teach students the basics of computer usage which include
word processing, spreadsheets, database management, and electronic presentations.
This full year course offers the students the chance to learn the basics
of Microsoft Office 2007 so that they can efficiently utilize these
tools throughout their high school years. The applications that are
learned in Microsoft Office 2007 are Word (word processing), Excel (spreadsheets),
Access (databases), and PowerPoint (presentations). Microsoft Office
is the most popular software suite used on the Windows platform and
this gives the students a chance to sit and learn the proper usages
of the application in an academic environment.
PowerPoint Viewer 2007: For those who don't have PowerPoint on your computer, you can download the PowerPoint Viewer 2007 application to allow you to view a presentation. It is located on Microsoft's web site at PowerPoint Viewer 2007.
Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats: Open, edit, and save documents, workbooks, and presentations in the file formats new to Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 using your existing Office 2000, Office XP, or Office 2003. The update is located at Microsoft.com.
Open Office 3.2.1: A free Office Suite that includes applications for word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations. This NEW version will allow you to open and save Office 2007 documents if you can't afford to purchase Microsoft Office. The application can be found at OpenOffice.org.
Adobe Reader: For those who don't have Adobe Reader, you can download the application from Adobe's web site at Adobe Reader.
