I have added long tones to one of the above scales each day to work on dynamics and tone/intonation control while sustaining a note. Students will play each note for 16 counts cresc. For 8 counts and decresc. For 8 counts

 

 

Intonation will be a big topic of performance this week. Using the tuner to identify pitch and listening skills students will strive to match pitch in all registers and in heterogeneous instrument groupings

 

Working to develop the musical concepts used in festival situation. Students are recorded as an ensemble and asked to comment both in written and verbally on the following topics as they relate to each individual piece.

Read article about style

 

Students received a form much as an adjudicator that helps guide them in their listening. Comments are to be written specifically as to what was good and what was poor in the listed above area.

 

Comments will be made on the student’s own taped performance. ( Stereo system, microphone are required)

New music will be handed out for festival. Woodwind choir and percussion ensemble and maybe brass. Groups will divide up to get the parts out to players.
