For the third assignment in PowerPoint, you are to create a presentation by importing an outline in Word.
1. Create a new blank presentation and save it as Outline.
NOTE: In order for PowerPoint to insert an existing Word file as a presentation, the Word file MUST be formatted using Heading Styles. Heading 1 would be for titles, Heading 2 for first level bullets, Heading 3 for 2nd level bullets, etc… beginning a new slide at every Heading 1 style.
2. Open up the Word file named Outline Data. Format it as follows:
q Replace StudentName in line 2 with your name
q All red text apply Heading 1 style
q All blue text apply Heading 2 style
q All green text apply Heading 3 style
3. Save and close the Word document (on your own drive).
4. In PowerPoint, delete the one slide that currently exists.
5. Insert a new slide using the Slides from Outline… option. Browse to find the Outline Data Word file and click Insert.
6. When the inserting is completed, change the first slide to the Title Slide layout.
7. Using the ‘Browse by Theme’ option under the Theme drop-down list, apply the Microsoft Office Theme supplied for you on the shared drive (under the Data Files folder).
8. Inherently, the fonts used in the presentation will come from the Word outline. To have the presentation use the fonts from the theme you applied, select all slides thumbnails in the Slide tab and choose Home > Reset. This will force PowerPoint to use the fonts designated by the theme.
9. Apply a slide transition of your choice to all slides making sure that the presentation DOES NOT advance on mouse click.
10. Run the presentation to see how each slide was created from Word. Use the arrow keys to navigate. There should be a total of 6 slides.
Save a shortcut to this presentation on the shared drive.
