Iron in Cereal 2

If you have a large petri dish this can be done on the overhead as a demo

container for water

cereal with iron in it

cow magnet or computer magnet (flinn scientific is a good source)

Place cereal flakes in the container of water

You can now drag them across the water using the magnets

You can have races if you wish

Look for flakes with black specs in them, the more specs the more iron. These flakes will go very fast with the magnet across the water.

Cow magnets are in the shape of a pill. Farmers have their cows swallow them. Cows will often eat barb wire ,nails and such things as they eat the grass. The magnet atracts the iron to it and stops it from going through the cows digestive system. The iron form the magnet and the things attracted to it is digested by the acid in the cow's stomach
