Measuring Buoyancy
tems needed
container for water
large bolts at least 100 grams
string
spring balances
1. Place enough water in the cup so the bolts can be completely placed under water.
2. Tie the two bolts together with the string. Tie a loop on the end opposite the bolts.
3. Weight the bolts on the spring balance
4. Record the weight
5. Place the bolts in the water. they must be completely under water. Weigh the bolts.
6. Record the weights.
7. Subtract the weights. The difference in the weight is the mount of
buoyancy. How much the water pushes up on the bolts.
