Chemical Change- Cleaning pennies with Taco Bell Sauce
Items needed - brown pennies- they have reacted with oxygen in the air to make copper oxide
Taco Bell Sauce
Open the bag of sauce, palce 2 to 3 pennies in the bag.
Wait 5 minutes
Take the pennies out
Wipe with a napkin or paper towel
The penny will now be copper colored.
Some pennies that are very black or dark will not clean up well
A chemical reaction happen with the acid in the Taco Bell sauce and the copper oxide. It makes a water soluble salt that wipes away with the napkin
