SPANISH II – 1 Credit – Grades 10-11-12
Prerequisite – Successful completion of Spanish I

Spanish II builds on the material covered in Spanish I with an emphasis on basic survival skills in the target culture. Many of these situations will be based on examples found in the Destinos video series, which will continue to serve as the core curriculum for this course. Activities designed to encourage students to communicate with one another in both large and small groups will again be emphasized. As in Spanish I, cultural materials introduced in the video series will be enhanced for a greater understanding of the rich and diverse Hispanic history and its role in the development of Western Civilization. Weekly vocabulary lists will continue to play a vital role in the curriculum, as will mastery of basic regular and irregular verbs in the tenses learned in Spanish I and the addition of the imperfect and future tenses. Continued mastery of common expressions will be included, as will viewing some Spanish movies such as El Norte and some Disney feature-length cartoons.
