Yearbooks
This Web site for KHS Alumni has definitely been a big project.  But I felt that Kingsford should have a unique web page setup for its alumni.  We didn't want a few pages that simply gave information such as e-mail address or current marriage status, we also wanted the pages to bring back memories by allowing alumni to take a walk down memory lane as well as catch up with classmates and friends they haven't seen in years.  For those alumni that have passed on, we hope to add a little tribute by their name and maybe a few comments from friends or loved ones that knew them best.

The idea for these Web pages originated a few years ago when my Photoshop class decided to make web pages for the senior class.  Again, the idea of putting just their senior pictures was great, but a little spice was needed.  Therefore, my class decided to cut out the original background of each individual and place behind it a customized background that had more of a Flivver theme to it.  The whole class participated and they voted on the best one. (Class of 2002 and up)  I also put together a PowerPoint slide show that was presented during the graduation ceremony before graduation and when the students walked across the stage.

The information used in our pages came from the year books here at the high school (1963 to present), yearbooks from older alumni (my mother -'56, '57, '58), and more modernized methods such as digital pictures and e-mail.  The pages are definitely not complete as we hope that other alumni will contribute by sending more updated information about themselves (if they so desire) and maybe a story or two for the archives.  If there are any errors on the pages (i.e. names spelled correctly, etc...) please let us know.  Growing up in Kingsford, I thought that some of the names weren't spelled correctly from what I remembered of them.  Even the year books had errors.  We will still be looking for year books from some of the Classic years at KHS (pre-1963).  If some of you have those year books and would gladly allow us to borrow them, we would be greatly appreciative.

Kingsford High School itself has seen many drastic changes from the old high school (to some of you it was the middle school) to the new high school (built in 1964) to the newer renovated high school (1990) and middle school.  I especially enjoyed seeing the changes that the year books went through from the old days of cut-and-paste layout to the more computerized versions we produce today.  I even heard that they used devices called typewriters back in the early days.

Enjoy your walk through the years here at KHS!

Sincerely,

Nicholas Lee Gayan
Class of 1985

This is what we would like to do to most of the pages for those alumni willing to share information about themselves.  Please do not feel obligated.
