Below is a brief description of the tests administered to all
students in our district. If you want detailed information or wish to
examine the tests, please contact Ann

SAT
(Standford Achievement Test) is a norm referenced test that
allows us to compare our students' achievement to national
averages. Half of the students in the country will always be
below the midpoint (the 50th percentile), and half will
always be above. Our goal is to do better than the
average.

|
OLSAT
(Otis Lennon School Ability Test) is a school ability test
that helps us make decisions on appropriate educational
programs for our students individually. It is a measure of a
student's ability to succeed at school tasks.
|
|
DAT
(Differential Apptitude Test) is an aptitude test. It helps
students learn what academic and career choices they might
have.
|
|
PLAN
(a pre-ACT test) is an academic skills test. Because it
gives scores like the ACT (American College Test), it will
predict college success. Students who do not score in the
college range, or those who do not wish to pursue a college
program, should take the Work Keys test to help with career
planning.
|
|
Work
Keys predicts a student's areas of strength to
help guide course selections and career preparation
choices.

MEAP
(Michigan Educational Assessment Program) is a set of
criterion referenced tests designed to see if students have
learned the Michigan Core Academic Curriculum to a
"Satisfactory" or "Proficient" level. There are tests in
Reading, Writing, Mathematics, and Science. It is our goal
to have ALL of our students achieve these standards.
|
|
MEAP
High School Tests are the same type of tests as
the MEAP. They test the student's achievement of the
Michigan Core Academic Curriculum. The results become a part
of the graduating student's transcript and so will be known
to employers and colleges that request that transcript. It
is our goal to have ALL our students achieve core curriculum
standards measured by these tests.
