Breitung Township Schools participates in the Schools of Choice Program. This program allows students who are legal residents of Dickinson or Iron County the opportunity to attend any public school in either county, regardless of where they live. In 2006, the Breitung Township School District was identified as one of 43 schools in the state of Michigan as an Outperforming School District by by Standard & Poor’s School Evaluation Services.
An outperforming school district is one that
reports significantly higher percentages of students who are proficient or above
on state reading and math tests when compared to other school districts in
Michigan with similar levels of economically-disadvantaged students.
