The second phase for the school improvements will begin as soon as bidding for the work is concluded. A little more than $2 million dollars in improvements are currently planned for the second phase. With the exception of the carpeting portion of the flooring package, which will be completed in the summer when classes are not in session, phase one bond projects have been completed.
All lighting in the Woodland building complex as well as the kitchen and cafeteria have been replaced as part of the first phase projects with T-5 lighting. This included all light fixtures, some exit lights and occupancy sensors.

Breitung Township Schools includes more new lighting, plus parking lot work,
and other building projects.
The mechanical portion of this first phase included replacing the air handlers at the Woodland complex as well as hot water heaters both at the Woodland/administration area and the middle school. big project completed during the first phase was all the roofing at the high school and middle school complex as well as insulation in some areas.

With Bond Issue dollars, Breitung Township Schools was able to replace the 22 year old rubber
membrane roof on the Kingsford High/Middle School complex. Insulation was also added as
part of our energy efficiency initiative. The project was completed by Modern Roofing at the
cost of just over $520,000.

New Mobile Lab for KHS
- 30 Dell Latitude 2120 mini notebook computers
- Uses the building Wi-Fi for networking
- Includes a networked laser printer
- Teachers reserve the computer lab through the media center.
KHS Computer Lab
- Windows computer lab with 30 thin client workstations
- Four computers power the 30 workstations
- Energy efficient, low power consumption low heat generation
- Lab is used for computer instruction two hours per day - available as a drop in lab for the other five hours.
KHS DROP-IN COMPUTER LAB - ROOM 200
- Drop in computer lab with 28 thin client workstations
- Three computers power the 28 workstations
- Energy efficient, low power consumption low heat generation
- Teachers reserve the computer lab through the media center.
KHS LRC CLASSROOMS
- Three LRC classrooms receive 5 thin client workstations
- One computer operates five workstations
NEW MONITORS FOR KHS COMPUTER LABS
- Acer 22" wide screen monitors
- Provide larger desktop workspace for students. Especially useful when running multiple applications for research and projects.
- Energy efficient
NEW LAPTOPS FOR TEACHERS
- HP Elite book 8440p
- Replaces 5 and 6 year old laptops with Windows 7 laptops.
- Features Office 2010, built in web cam, built in SD Card Reader, long battery life, 14" monitor

INFRASTRUCTURE
VOIP PHONE SYSTEM - August-September, 2011 - ZULTYS PHONE SYSTEM
- Features Speaker Phone ins every classroom, voice mail, conference calling, call forwarding, ability to save voice mail messages and more.
- Uses digital telephone service - saves money over analog phone lines.
- Combined with the Dickinson-Iron ISD phone system to provide redundancy, Backup, and additional technology support through the Technology Consortium (TECH-CO) between Breitung Township Schools, Iron Mountain Schools and the Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District.
DATA CENTER SERVER - July-August, 2011
- 3 terrabyte server housed at the Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District and servicing the three school districts: BTS, IMSchools and DIISD.
- Capable of up to 30 Virtual servers.
- High availability, redundancy, backup, power protection and emergency power backup system
- Saves the district money in equipment maintenance, power and air conditioning.
- TECH-CO shares responsibility of administering and managing the servers
MERAKI WI-FI - Completed December 2011
- Wireless Networking installed throughout the Breitung Township School District
- Centrally controlled
- Provides Secure Wireless Access to all domain computers
- Provides Wireless Access to the Internet for authorized guests
