Dear Flivver Families:
As we prepare for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year, we recognize there are many questions about what the school year will look like. We hope the following information will provide you with an update as well as a timeline of when to expect more specific information.
Breitung Township Schools is planning to return to more of a normal school year of in-person learning. We feel face-to-face instruction is best for most students and the student-teacher relationship is critical to overall student learning. Virtual learning will be provided on a limited basis. If your family has a unique circumstance or a documented medical need to continue using virtual learning, please work with the building principal or guidance staff to discuss virtual learning options.
We will continue to provide a safe, clean learning environment and encourage social distancing and safety protocols when appropriate. We have not yet made a decision regarding mask requirements and will wait for further guidance from the Michigan Department of Education, Centers for Disease Control, and Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
We plan to move forward with all extracurricular and co-curricular programs as we would in a normal school year. We recognize the opportunities that were missed over the past two years and will work to ensure our programs are a positive experience for our students during the 2021-2022 school year.
A Covid-19 vaccination is recommended for those 12 years of age and older but will not be required for students as it is not listed as a school-required vaccine. However, the Covid-19 vaccine for students who are eligible may reduce or eliminate the need to quarantine from school and school activities. Please work with your healthcare provider if your child is eligible and you would like to schedule a vaccine.
Breitung Township Schools thanks you for your support and understanding over the past two years of pandemic learning. While we know things may change between now and the start of the school year, we wanted to give you information regarding our planning. More information will be included in the back-to-school letters from each school building, on the BTS website www.kingsford.org, and the BTS Facebook pages.
We look forward to the 2021-2022 school year and are hopeful that we will return to more of a traditional school year for our students, staff, and community.
